Reading comprehension is the reason that we read, yet we often find that we are testing it through reading comprehension questions, rather than teaching pupils strategies to support themselves.
This course is designed to:
- explore comprehension strategies based on an active approach
- encourages schools to work consistently across year groups and to develop a whole school approach
- highlight the need for developing a consistent approach and looking at research
- encourage pupils to build up their understanding of literal and inferred information,
- create a valuable resource to be used in school
- aim to arm pupils with the necessary skills to be successful in more formal
