Early literacy strategies including phonics for KS2/3 Delivered by Louise Kelly- Scott Consultant Teacher in SEND Date:               4^th May 2023 Time:              9.00am-12.00pm Cost:               £45 per person Suitable for:   Teaching Assistants at KS2 and KS3 When children learn to read at an early age, they have greater general knowledge, a wider range of vocabulary, they are more fluent readers, and they have improved attention spans and better concentration. This course will look at:

• how to support spellings
• help children develop fluency in reading
• strategies to support comprehension
• develop sentence construction using scaffolds
• modelling the use of high-quality structured interventions to help children who are struggling with their literacy and phonics
• build confidence in the reader
