New to SEND Session 3

The aim of these 5 informal sessions is to provide support and information so that Sheffield colleagues who are involved in developing and leading SEND within their setting feel more confident about fulfilling their roles and responsibilities in line with the current SEND practice within Sheffield. These sessions are aimed at:

  • New SENCO’s
  • Aspiring SENCOs
  • Assistant SENCOs
  • Inclusion Managers
  • Any SENCOs who feel that they need a ‘refresher!’

The programme consists of 5 individual sessions with a different theme each session. This course will cover the following topics:

  • The Code of Practice
  • Role of a SENCO
  • Ofsted and Sheffield Support Grid
  • Assess, Plan, Do Review’ process
  • Understanding The Graduated Approach documents
  • Outside agencies and Funding
  • Funding Panels
  • In depth look at Moderation of the SSG
  • My Plans and Educational Health Care Plans
  • SATS
  • Provision Mapping
  • SEN Policy
  • Information Report
  • Local Offer
  • Transition
  • EHCP Panels
  • SEN moderation- localities and city wide and Action Plan

The sessions will be held at Talbot Specialist School, Lees Hall Rd, S8 9JP 1.30pm-4.30pm – however Session 1 on 19th October will be a virtual training session to allow us to adhere to the guidelines re COVID 19. The remaining sessions will hopefully be delivered face-to-face. The Zoom link for accessing session 1 will be sent to you closer to the time.
