Dyscalculia is a specific learning difficulty that is characterised by the impairment of
learning basic arithmetic facts, the processing of numerical magnitude and performing
accurate and fluent calculations.
This course will explore what dyscalculia is, referring to current research, what are the
typical indicators, and strategies to support dyscalculic pupils with their mathematical understanding.
Understanding Dyscalculia will enable participants to:
- Begin to recognise some of the features of dyscalculia as opposed to general maths difficulties
- Have some understanding of particular aspects of mathematics that dyscalculic pupils struggle with
- Consider the strategies that they can implement in their maths lessons to help
