Kate Woodhead

I have worked for Fusion S2S/Learning Support Service for over 15 years, having previously worked in a variety of schools in Sheffield as a KS1 and KS2 teacher, Literacy Coordinator, SENCo and Deputy Head.

I am passionate about enabling the best possible outcomes for all children. I support children in school who have a range of diagnosis such as Autism, Down Syndrome, Developmental Language Disorder, Dyslexia and General Developmental Delay. I have a particular interest helping young people to become readers and writers, supporting the development of early literacy skills in pupils whatever their age.

I have been a Reading Recovery Teacher and Regional Tutor of Makaton.

I deliver regular training to schools covering a range of areas including developing reading and writing skills (which includes Fischer Family Wave 3 Literacy Intervention training, Write Away Together and Hi Five), approaches to comprehension teaching, vocabulary teaching and working memory amongst others.

I believe that in order to support our young people, we need to support each other. I like to think that I build strong relationships with schools, individual staff and colleagues in our team because by working together and looking after each other we can be successful and stronger.
